Complex
shapes in 3 different ways
You can do very complex
shapes just using the Marquee tool and the lasso tool. Draw for an
example a circle. Hold down the shift key and draw a rectangle. You
have now combined two different shapes by adding a rectangle to a
circle
If you want to do the oposite
way, hold
down the Alt-key while you draw the rectangle.
Rounded Corners
Draw the shape using the
Marquee tool as shown above.
Deselect the shape and apply
the Gaussian Blur filter with radius 4,5 (or higher for softer
shape)
Go to Image/adjust/levels and
drag the 3 little arrows to the middle of the curve.
And this is how it will
look.

This may seem a little bit
more complicated, but you have more control
of the shape this way.
Start with a new RGB image
with the grid on and snap to grid
draw a circle and fill it with black.
Add a new layer and draw a
rectangle. Fill it with black.
Flatten the image.
Mark the shape with the magic
wand tool, copy it (Ctrl+C) and paste it (Ctrl+V). Go to
Layer/transform/ and flip horizontal. Move the copy so it will fit
with the first layer. Flatten the image.
